I spent the weekend catching up with FreakAngels. Like, the last 18 or so episodes. Following up the first half-dozen that I started a week ago. Okay, okay, so I’m late to the party. But better late than never, right?

I really enjoyed it. And that’s not meant to sound like I’m surprised, just that I wasn’t sure what to expect. I tend to like just about everything Warren Ellis writes, and I admit to knowing very little of Paul Duffield’s work (although I hope to remedy that), but I am real interested in these characters – who they are and what they do – the people around them, and where they live.

Each episode is six pages, there are twenty-four episodes currently, with the twenty-fourth being the conclusion of act one, which will be bound and collected and can be ordered in the September Previews catalog, under the Avatar Press section. I believe there will be three versions of the book.

I added a little widget to the sidebar that will connect you to the FreakAngels site, something I found while reading one of the intermissions Ellis wrote. What the hell, I figure. I’m happy to promote something I’m enjoying. And this comic is something I recommend.

I think I’m going to like watching what happens in this world Ellis and Duffield created.

Okay, I know the time between my last two posts was a little longer than I wanted. And I hope to make some regular contributions to this blog. And I will if you’ll me this favor. Go check out this comic strip. Danielle Corsetto is a very funny and very, very talented creator. This ranks up there with Bloom County and Calvin & Hobbes for me. Seriously, I was laughing out loud at this strip. I feel like I’ve been friends with the characters in this strip for years. And trust me, they are all chracters. Especially McPedro.

Watch for some of the language as it’s not a family-friendly strip. But that’s okay because it’s not obscene. Just ‘everyday life’ kinda statements. You say worse when some putz cuts you off in traffic.

And make sure you click on the archive link and then tell Danielle what you thought after you’re caught up. Hell, tell her I sent ya cuz if I find out it means someone actually read this.
